Yet another page of South Jersey railroad history is being written as I type. This week, it would appear that the crossing lights on Madison Avenue in Mount Holly have flashed for the last time. As of yesterday (Tues 1/12/10),railroad crews have removed the tracks on both sides of the road and are in the process of removing more track in the Mount Holly freight yard.

The tracks will terminate on the West side of Madison Avenue. And the siding/switch placement will be shortened. At this point, not sure how it will look when work is completed.

The old Mount Holly passenger station is still for sale... No word of a buyer or what it might become this time around. It had been a thrift shop, a deli and most recently an Island cusine restaurant.

Since this is a relatively new site, it is understandable that you are missing some information. I noticed no mention of the Pemberton Township Historic Trust in Pemberton Township, Burlington County, NJ.

We are in the old North Pemberton PRR station that we restored via grants in 1995. Since that time we have:

Uncovered the old foundation of the section house.
Rebuilt the section house in 1999.
Uncovered and excavated the foundation for the original bunkhouse.
Laid approx 600' of track.
Acquired and moved in;
A 1923 Tidewater tankcar.
An NX23 caboose.
AN N5c caboose.
A CNJ caboose.
An N6b caboose.
From Roebling Steel a 100 ton GE diesel, hopper car, flat car and gondola.
Acquired the old rail yard property from Wawa and:
Excavated the ash pit that was built in the early 1850s.
Uncovered the top of the turntable pit.

We would like to become part of this fine site since we are also a part of railroad history in South Jersey.

Thanks

What great coverage of the Delair Bridge Ship Accident. Super website, a favorite for me now!

Mike,

Delaware River Railroad and Bridge Comapny (DR.R.R.&B.CO. Branch).page made #1 only due to you and John Acton's contributions. I was very impressed with your editing and your clever use of the Wiki format. For a guy who had little or no formal training in this field, you have done an outstanding job in getting this PRSL Wiki Web project flying. And in my opinion, you did just as well - if not better than some of the professionals in the Project Management and Web layout design field that I've know in the past.

Mike, keep up the good work.

Congratulations for a job well done!

Anything I would say has a slight prejudice to it, but, all looks and has looked
good - especially before I landed.
